Alan Abbinanti, Pharmacist

Alan Abbinanti, PharmD

Title: Ambulatory Care Specialty Resident

Alan spent his early childhood moving across America with his military family, but settled in Sandy, Utah for middle and high school. After graduation from high school, he served several years in the United States Army as a Mental Health Specialist before deciding to pursue pharmacy. Alan graduated from the University of Utah College of Pharmacy and completed his PGY1 Ambulatory Care focused residency with University of Utah Health. His is staying with University of Utah Health to complete his PGY2 in Ambulatory Care at the Sugar House Clinic. His clinical interests include family medicine, psychiatry, academia, and interprofessional collaboration.

In his free time, Alan enjoys spending time with his wife and two children. Some of his favorite activities are automotive detailing, automotive repair, camping, fishing, and playing whatever nonsensical game his children have engineered for the day.


 

Samantha Andrews, PharmD

Samantha Andrews, PharmD

Title:  Infectious Disease Specialty Resident

Sam was born in San Diego and grew up in various suburbs of Los Angeles, CA. She earned her PharmD at the University of California, San Francisco. After graduation, Sam took a job in the Bay Area working in Medical Affairs in the pharmaceutical industry. She then decided to return to patient care and continue her training, completing her PGY-1 training at UCSF Medical Center. Having lived in California for her entire life, she is ecstatic to begin her PGY-2 journey in Infectious Diseases at University of Utah Health! Her professional interests include antimicrobial stewardship, epidemiology, and public health.

Outside of work, Sam enjoys cooking and spending time outdoors - hiking, cycling, camping, backpacking, and skiing/snowboarding.


 

Nathan Bartley, Pharmacist

Nathan Bartley, PharmD

Title:  Health System Pharmacy Administration Specialty Resident (first of two years)

Nathan grew up in La Crosse, Wisconsin. He graduated with his BS in Biochemistry and PharmD from the University of Wisconsin - Madison. His clinical interests include cardiology, oncology, and infectious disease. He is excited to continue his training as a first year HSPAL resident at the University of Utah Health.

Outside of pharmacy, Nathan enjoys hiking, skiing, eating, and spending time with his dog, Riley.

Henry Bernard Best II, PharmD

Title:  Pharmacy Practice Resident (Ambulatory Care)

I was born in Conway, South Carolina (SC), which is a small city that neighbors Myrtle Beach, SC. Throughout my early education years I was a student athlete with a passion for basketball, football, and the sciences. I completed my undergraduate studies at Clemson University "Go Tigers." I earned my Doctor of Pharmacy Degree at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston, SC. My career interests include: primary care, academia, and community outreach.

In my free time you can find me at the gym, on a hike, or playing guitar. I am extremely excited to be in Utah and I'm looking forward to giving skiing/snowboarding my best attempt when this Winter comes around!


 

Caitlyn Blake, Pharmacist

Caitlyn Blake, PharmD

Title: Medication-Use Safety & Policy Specialty Resident

Caitlyn was born and raised in Newark, DE. She earned her PharmD from The University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy while competing as a student athlete (swimming). Caitlyn completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at ChristianaCare in her hometown of Newark, DE. She’s excited to continue her training as the PGY2 medication use safety and policy resident. She is passionate about all things medication safety, drug information, and safe transitions of care.

Outside of work, Caitlyn enjoys finding new coffee shops, trying various places to eat, and exploring with friends. During her PGY2 year, she plans to make time to visit national parks within Utah and learn to ski.

Bridget Bucher, PharmD

Title: Solid Organ Transplant Specialty Resident

Bridget is originally from Hickman, Nebraska. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from the University of Nebraska Medical Center and completed her PGY1 residency at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics. She is very excited to continue her training at the University of Utah Health as a PGY2 pharmacy resident in solid organ transplant.

During her free time, she enjoys hiking, watching Husker volleyball, tending to her houseplants, and spending time with family and friends.


 

Taylor Cairns, Pharmacist

Taylor Cairns, PharmD

Title: Pharmacy Practice Resident (General Practice)

Taylor was born and raised in Torrance, California. She completed her undergraduate and PharmD coursework at the University of Illinois Chicago. Taylor is excited to continue her training as a PGY1 resident at the University of Utah Health. Her current areas of interests include transplant, internal medicine, and cardiology.

In her free time, Taylor enjoys getting outdoors, biking, playing golf, watching softball games, and hanging out with her pets. She looks forward to exploring Utah’s beautiful hiking trails and learning how to snowboard this year!


 

Maren Campbell, Pharmacist

Maren Campbell, PharmD

Title: Oncology Specialty Resident

Maren was born and raised in the small town of Fertile in northern Minnesota. She completed her undergraduate coursework at the University of Minnesota Duluth and earned her PharmD at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Maren completed her PGY1 at the University of Utah Health and is thrilled to continue her training as a PGY2 oncology resident at the Huntsman Cancer Institute.

In her free time, Maren enjoys being outdoors hiking with her dog or fishing, going to concerts, traveling with friends, and going to baseball games (Go St. Paul Saints and MN Twins!). She looks forward to taking advantage of all the great outdoor activities in Utah and getting better at fly fishing!


 

Ryan Carsten, Pharmacist

Ryan Carsten, PharmD

Title: Informatics Specialty Resident

Ryan grew up in the rural town of Milford, Nebraska and completed his undergraduate degree at Concordia University, Nebraska. He earned his PharmD at Concordia University Wisconsin, and completed his PGY1 residency at Blessing Hospital in Quincy, Illinois. Ryan is beyond excited to move to the mountain west region to continue his training as the PGY2 pharmacy informatics resident at the University of Utah! His current areas of interest include clinical decision support, artificial intelligence, and infectious disease.

Outside of pharmacy, Ryan is married to his wife Alicia and enjoys spending time with her and their two pets, Eleven (cat) and Bärchen (dog). Other hobbies include biking, hiking, trying new breweries, and playing board/card/video games with family and friends.


 

Guadalupe Chavez, Pharmacist

Guadalupe Chavez, PharmD

Title: Ambulatory Care Specialty Resident

Lupe was born and raised in Davenport, IA. She completed her PharmD at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy and PGY1 pharmacy practice residency with the University of Utah Health. Lupe is eager to continue her pharmacy training with a PGY2 in Ambulatory Care through the University of Utah Health. Her current areas of interest include primary care and implementing new clinical pharmacy services.

Outside of pharmacy, Lupe enjoys dancing, exploring restaurants, watching action movies, and playing any friendly ball game.


 

Tyler Everhardt, PharmD

Tyler Everhardt, PharmD

Title: Oncology Specialty Resident

Tyler was born and raised in Oregon, Ohio. He attended The Ohio State University for both his BS in Pharmaceutical Sciences and PharmD. Tyler completed his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, in Cincinnati, OH. He is excited to continue his training in oncology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute, where he hopes to find his passion within the specialty.

Outside of pharmacy, Tyler enjoys watching and playing sports (Go Bucks!), hiking and exercising, and trying new breweries and coffee shops. He is looking forward to exploring all Utah has to offer over the next year.


 

Khalil Ford, PharmD

Khalil Ford, PharmD

Title: Emergency Medicine Specialty Resident

Khalil was born and raised in the Black Hills of South Dakota. He obtained both his Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences and Doctor of Pharmacy at South Dakota State University. Khalil completed his PGY-1 pharmacy residency at HCA Houston Healthcare Clear Lake. He is elated to specialize in emergency medicine during his PGY-2 where he can become an integral member of the healthcare team and have a profound impact on patient care. His areas of interest include electrophysiology, neurology, toxicology, and infectious diseases.

During his free time, Khalil enjoys hiking in the outdoors, longboarding, visiting wineries, and browsing Wikipedia.


 

Eleni Gamvroulas, PharmD

Eleni Gamvroulas, PharmD

Title: Oncology Specialty Resident

Eleni grew up in Salt Lake City and received both her Bachelor of Arts in Communication Studies and her Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Utah. She completed her PGY1 training at UCHealth - University of Colorado Hospital in Aurora, Colorado. Eleni credits her love of oncology to the Huntsman Cancer Institute, and is excited to continue her PGY2 training in oncology there. Her interest areas include solid tumor cancers and oncologic critical care.

In her free time, Eleni loves cooking, kissing her dogs, the New York Times crossword puzzle, and calling her mom.

Title: Pharmacy Practice Resident (Ambulatory Care)

Hayam was born in Kurdistan and raised in Salt Lake City, UT. She completed her undergraduate education at the University of Utah and her Doctor of Pharmacy at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Hayam is thrilled to continue her training as a PGY1 resident at the University of Utah Health. Her current interests include primary care, drug information, academia, and cardiology.

During her free time, she enjoys indoor cycling, hiking, traveling, watching true crime documentaries, and spending time with family and friends.

Title: Pharmacy Practice Resident (General Practice)

Julie was born and raised in De Pere, Wisconsin. She completed her undergraduate coursework and earned her PharmD at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities. Julie is thrilled to continue her pharmacy training with a PGY1 pharmacy residency at the University of Utah Health. Her areas of interest are Infectious Diseases and Critical Care.

In her free time, she enjoys outdoor activities, reading, and exploring new restaurants and coffee shops! Julie is looking forward to snowboarding in the winter and exploring Utah's national parks.

Melanie Hunter, PharmD

Title: Oncology Specialty Resident

Melanie was born and raised in Bountiful, Utah. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy in Salt Lake City, Utah. She completed her PGY1 at the University of Utah Health with a focus on ambulatory care and is thrilled to be starting a PGY2 in oncology at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. She loves interacting with patients and is proud to be a part of the most accessible health care profession. Her areas of interest include hematology, oncology, and preventive care.

She enjoys hiking, camping, trying new foods and restaurants, traveling, and spending time with family.


 

Clyde Marquez, Pharmacist

Clyde Marquez, PharmD

Title: Pharmacy Practice Resident (General Practice)

Clyde was born in New Jersey and spent most of his life in Florida. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Central Florida while working as a pharmacy technician at Walgreens. He then moved to Colorado and earned his Doctorate degree in Pharmacy at the University of Colorado Skaggs School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Here he developed his passion for clinical pharmacy and patient care. Clyde is eager to continue his pharmacy training as a PGY1 resident at the University of Utah Health. His interest areas include Critical Care, Infectious Disease, and Cardiology.

Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys cooking, hiking, traveling, photography, as well as spending time with his beautiful wife Bridget, his lab/shepherd mix Bubba, and his two cats, Cash and Bowie.


 

Travis Miller, Pharmacist

Title: Health System Pharmacy Administration Specialty Resident (first of two years)

Travis grew up in Council Bluffs, Iowa as the eldest of four children. After graduating high school, he attended Palm Beach Atlantic University where he received his Bachelor of Science in Biology and Medicinal Chemistry. He stayed at Palm Beach Atlantic University to earn his PharmD and MBA degree. Travis is excited to continue his pharmacy training as a PGY1 resident in the HSPAL program at the University of Utah Health. His clinical interests include internal medicine, ambulatory care, and medication safety.

In his free time, Travis enjoys spending time with his wife, trying out new restaurants, going to sporting events, hiking, and hanging out with friends. He looks forward to exploring new hiking trails in the mountains of Utah and learning how to ski.

Title: Health System Pharmacy Administration Specialty Resident (second of two years)

Chloe was born and raised in the Kansas City area. She obtained her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Kansas. Her interests include clinical management, pharmacy operations, internal medicine, oncology, and ambulatory care. Chloe is thrilled to be in Salt Lake City and continue her pharmacy training as a second year HSPAL resident at the University of Utah Health!

In her free time, Chloe enjoys getting outdoors, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She is looking forward to exploring the beauty of Utah and skiing the slopes in the winter!

Haley (Teuscher) Peterson, PharmD

Title: Pharmacy Practice Resident (General Practice)

I was born and raised in Long Beach, California. I moved to Utah to attend Utah State University for my undergraduate studies, where I received a Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, and minors in American Sign Language and Biology. After my undergraduate training, I came to the University of Utah College of Pharmacy, where I met my husband (I happened to sit by him during orientation). My interest areas include hematology and BMT.

I developed a lot of hobbies during the beginning of quarantine, including knitting, crocheting, painting, and weight lifting. I recently adopted two kittens - Lily and Novo.

Title: Pharmacy Practice Resident (General Practice)

Erin was born and raised in the Salt Lake City area. She completed her undergraduate education at Salt Lake Community College and earned her PharmD at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. Erin is thrilled to be continuing her education and training with University of Utah Health and her clinical interests include critical care, oncology, and internal medicine.

Outside of work you will most likely find her with her small pack of dogs, paddle boarding, gardening, cooking, and relaxing with family.

Samantha Relias (Lewiston), PharmD

Title:  Health System Pharmacy Administration and Leadership Resident (second of two years)

Samantha was born and raised in New Berlin, WI. She graduated with her BS in Molecular Biology and PharmD from the University of Wisconsin — Madison. Her clinical interests include psychiatry and cardiology, and her administrative interests include operations and supply chain. As a second-year HSPAL resident, Samantha is excited to work alongside pharmacy leaders and gain a system-wide perspective of University of Utah Health.

Samantha enjoys exploring new restaurants, coffee shops, and hikes around Salt Lake City in her free time.

Title:  Pharmacy Practice Resident (Ambulatory Care)

Abbey received her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Adams State University in Colorado. She returned to her home state and received her PharmD from the University of Utah. Abbey is thrilled to continue her pharmacy training at the University of Utah as a PGY1 Track B Resident. Her clinical interests include primary care, psychiatry, and transitions of care.

Abbey enjoys all things outdoors including, hiking, trail running, and camping in addition to spending time with her family and fur baby, Luna.

Title:  Internal Medicine Specialty Resident

Savanna grew up in the Kansas City area. She earned her Doctor of Pharmacy from the University of Missouri-Kansas City in 2021 and completed her PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at University Health Truman Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri. Savanna is excited to continue her training at the University of Utah Health as a PGY2 Internal Medicine Pharmacy resident.

During her free time, Savanna enjoys trying new coffee shops, being outdoors, reading, and spending time with friends and family. She is looking forward to exploring the beauty of Utah!

Title: Critical Care Specialty Resident

Presley was born and raised in Salt Lake City, Utah. She completed her Bachelor of Science in Biology with a minor in biblical studies from Arizona Christian University while competing as a colligate athlete in softball. She went on to complete her PharmD at the University of Utah College of Pharmacy. She completed her PGY1 Residency at University of Utah Health where she is eager to continue her pharmacy training with a PGY2 in Critical Care.

In her free time, she enjoys game nights with friends, making new recipes, exploring SLC restaurants, CrossFit and hopes to one day own a B&B in Hawaii.
