Q: Where Mountain States Conference being held?
A: The conference will be held at the University of Utah, which is located on the east foothills of Salt Lake City. General directions to the University of Utah are found at www.utah.edu/directions. Maps to the University of Utah Health campus are found at map.utah.edu. Our website and e-program have additional maps for the conference buildings and rooms. If you are using GPS, the address for the College of Pharmacy is 30 South 2000 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84112.

Q: Will there be a virtual option for Mountain States Conference in 2024?
A: No. Due to the complexities of running a virtual and in-person conference simultaneously, we will not be offering a virtual platform.

Q: Will Mountain States Conference require proof of COVID-19 vaccination to attend the conference?
A: No. COVID-19 vaccinations are highly encouraged due to their ability at protecting people – especially those who are boosted – from getting seriously ill, being hospitalized, and even dying. Anyone with symptoms or concerned about respiratory illness is encouraged to wear a mask.

Q: What is the general format of Mountain States Conference?
A: The conference will run over 1.5 days. Multiple presentation rooms will be running simultaneously for residents to present their research and for attendees to ask questions to the presenters. A keynote presentation will be included.

Q: What are the expectations of the resident presenters and attendees?
A: Each resident will submit a final 1-page handout for posting online for audience members along with their final presentation slides. Each resident will present their research for a maximum of 15 minutes followed by 5 minutes for questions. Room moderators will provide "1-minute remaining" and "stop" notices to each speaker. At that point, audience members are encouraged to ask questions to fill the 5 minute Q&A time. Audience members are expected to complete online evaluations for each presenter. Resident evaluations will be emailed to RPDs to review with their residents following the conference. All attendees are asked to be in their selected presentation room before the presentation start time so the moderator can close the doors and start each presentation on time.

Q: What are the expectations of the program directors?
A: RPDs are asked to require their residents to attend as many presentations as possible throughout the day. Program directors will communicate to their residents the expectation to complete online presentation evaluations for all presentations they attend. Resident evaluations will be emailed to RPDs to review with their residents following the conference.

Q: Will C.E. be offered for this event?
A: No.

Q: What is the attire for Mountain States Conference?
A: The conference dress is business attire. Residents are expected to dress for their presentation as they would for any regional or national conference. Other attendees are encouraged wear what they would normally wear to work.

Q: What materials will you provide?
A: In an effort to be green, we will provide a summary paper schedule when you register, but we encourage you to access all other conference materials online. Complimentary Wi-Fi will be available for you to access the program on the “UGuest” network. A free mobile application will be available. The full e-program and web-app contains additional conference information including all presentation abstracts. Conference attendees will receive download instructions by email.

Q: How do I provide feedback about the conference?
A: Attendees will receive a link to an electronic evaluation following the conference. We greatly appreciate your attendance and look forward to your feedback. We will use this information in planning for the next Mountain States Conference!

Q: Do the listed hotels offer a discount for attendees?
A: The hotels do not offer a special conference rate. They were selected for their proximity to the conference site or to the local Trax train line to the University.

Q: Does the conference offer free parking?
A: Conference registrants will receive a parking code for a specific parking garage near the conference site. Registrants must enter the code at a kiosk outside of the parking structure each day of the conference. Attendees are encouraged to “go green” and either carpool or use public transportation. The end of the Trax train line is walking distance to the conference center.

Q: Can vendors provide support to or attend the conference?
A: No.
