Bo Ying Compound by Eu Yan Sang Ltd.

Use of “Bo Ying compound” manufactured by Eu Yan Sang (Hong Kong) Ltd. can cause lead poisoning. The New York City Department of Health & Mental Hygiene discovered high levels of lead in “Bo Ying compound” after testing the product. Lead exposure can cause toxicity in the central nervous system, the kidneys, and the immune system. Chronic lead exposure in children can result in impaired cognitive function, reduced IQ, and behavioral problems. FDA received a report of lead poisoning in an 18-month-old child who was given the product.

The product is a powder marketed in retail outlets for use in infants and children for influenza, fever, sneezing, and nasal discharge. The product label is in Chinese and English. If currently using “Bo Ying compound”, discontinue use of the product immediately and consult with a health care provider.
