Tylenol® Extra Strength Caplets
July 1, 2011
McNeil Consumer Healthcare is voluntarily recalling one lot of Tylenol® Extra Strength Caplets, 225 count bottles. The specific lot being recalled is ABA619. The tablets exhibit a strong moldy or musty odor after exposure to small quantities of 2,4,6 tribromoanisole (TBA), a byproduct of a chemical preservative used to treat wooden pallets. Although TBA is not toxic, a small number of patients have reported short-term gastrointestinal side effects associated with TBA.
Instruct patients to stop using the recalled product and contact McNeil Consumer Healthcare for information about obtaining a refund or product coupon. Call 1-888-222-6036, Monday through Friday, 8 am to 8 pm, Eastern Time or visit www.tylenol.com. Contact a healthcare provider with medical questions or concerns.
