NovoLog Mix 70/30 (70% insulin aspart protamine suspension and 30% insulin aspart injection, [rDNA origin]) NovoLog (insulin aspart [rDNA origin] injection) - Change in Packaging to Help Prevent Dispensing Errors

Novo Nordisk has changed the packaging for the NovoLog (insulin aspart), rapid acting insulin from a white package with a blue band to a white package with an orange band to prevent dispensing errors. NovoLog 70/30 will retain the white with a blue band packaging.  Previously, NovoLog and NovoLog 70/30 had the same color packaging. To prevent dispensing errors, identify the insulin by name as well as packaging and ensure patients are familiar with their insulin name and type.
