Andrew Dwenger, PharmD

Title:  Drug Information Specialty Resident

Andrew has been an avid University of Utah fan since the day he beat Andre Miller in a 3 point shooting contest while attending one of the Rick Majerus basketball camps during elementary school. Unfortunately, this single victory did not translate to a professional basketball career and he was forced to follow a different passion. Through the many experiences Andrew had as a biology student at the University of Utah he eventually determined that being a pharmacist sounded like a pretty sweet gig and was fortunate to also attend pharmacy school at the University of Utah. Following pharmacy school Andrew sought out a life of sun and cactus at the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System where he was proud to provide health care to our nation’s Veterans. As a PGY1 resident he quickly realized that if you can’t know everything than you better be able to look it up and promptly focused his efforts towards pursuing a career in drug information. Andrew is thrilled to be returning to the University of Utah to complete a PGY2 residency in drug information with the same amazing preceptors he had during his first rotation as a fourth year pharmacy student.

When not evaluating the risk vs benefit of drug therapy, Andrew may be seen evaluating the risk vs benefit of eating spicy food and having subsequent heartburn. He is known to be an excellent cook with his specialty being a combination of water, malt, hops, and yeast. Andrew also loves spending time with his friends, exploring Utah’s outdoors, and binge-watching shows on Netflix. His greatest goal in life is to be as happy as his dog (a lab and blue heeler mix named Baloo) eating a piece of cheese.
