Daytrana (Methylphenidate) Patch - Recall of Specific Lots by Shire Pharmaceuticals

February 3, 2010

In December, 2009, Shire Pharmaceuticals recalled five lots and withdrew one lot of their Daytrana patch. The release liners of these lots do not meet specifications for release and may be difficult to remove for some patients. There are no safety issues regarding this recall and market withdrawal. The recall has been extended to include one additional recalled lot and 27 additional lots withdrawn from the market.

Included in the recall and market withdrawal are 10 mg, 15 mg, 20 mg, and 30 mg patch sizes. See the links below for the lists of lot numbers affected.

Consumers do not have to return affected lots. Pharmacies with affected lots of Daytrana can return these through Stericycle, Inc. on behalf of Shire Pharmaceuticals (1-888-871-7113).  Consumers and healthcare professionals with questions regarding this recall and market withdrawal may call Shire Pharmaceuticals at 1-800-828-2088.
