KV Pharmaceutical Tablet Shipment Suspension

KV Pharmaceutical announced a voluntary shipment suspension of all prescription drug products in tablet form as of December 19, 2008. The company suspended shipment in an effort to ensure their manufacturing practices are in compliance with government standards. The duration of this suspension is not determined. Only the company’s hydromorphone 2 mg tablets are being recalled (addressed in a separate Drug Information alert http://healthcare.utah.edu/pharmacy/alerts/ ).

KV Pharmaceutical markets prescription drug products through Ethex Corporation. The list below contains all the Ethex brand tablets affected by the suspended shipments.

  • Benazepril tablets
  • Buspirone tablets
  • Dextroamphetamine tablets
  • Doxazosin tablets
  • Hydromorphone tablets
  • Isosorbide Mononitrate ER tablets
  • Metoprolol succinate XL tablets, USP
  • Morphine Sulfate ER tablets
  • Ondansetron Orally Disintegrating tablets
  • Oxycodone tablets
  • Potassium Chloride 20 mEq ER tablets
  • Propafenone tablets
